Howzit Jeff - yup, everything is from Singapore, except the CO2 canister and the regulator (which is a welding regulator, not the most suitable piece of equipment, but it's working).

I was just plotting another trip to Singapore to get the goodies for my first all-grain batch, but I'll have to wait for some cheap flights to pop up. Where are you?

Let me know if you need any info, also, if you haven't found it yet, check out BeerBeer.org - as far as I can tell also Malaysian based beer lover.

Hey, finally stumbled onto a homebrewer doing this in hot and humid Malaysia. I myself is just starting out and doing plenty of research. Glad to read about your 2nd batch and how well it turned out.

Do you get all your supplies from Singapore?

In my experience you don't pay for buying stuff with your card. They just charge SGD to your account, Maybank converts it - bam, transaction complete.

Because it's a debit card, they do put a block for slightly more than what you're purchasing on your card. This is just so you don't go out and empty your account immediately after you purchase something - but the block is released / refunded, once the purchase has gone through.

But that's the whole beauty of the debit card - plastic cash, literally. You don't have to have physical money, but you can't spend what you don't have either.

If you card doesn't work, contact Maybank and have them enable it for overseas transactions - you need to do that at least once.

Hi, I was wondering and tried looking through the net but couldn't really find the answer.
I'm a malaysia but now in Singapore.
If i were to use my Maybank debit card when purchasing items over the counter, how much will I be charged?
Cuz it's quite troublesome to use the ATM machines to withdraw cash.

This is not regarding the current post but I just want to say A MILLION THANKS!!!!!! For the info about issuu.com. I am a non-profit that does not charge for a little magazine that I publish so the pay-per-page and expensive software were not feasible for me! This is awesome information!

Hi,

i really enjoyed reading your blog, especially on the food part in KK. I'm born and raised in KK but haven't lived there for 6 years now. i bet lots of places have changed. Ironically, i'm getting tips from a foreigner :-S
Nevertheless, they are good tips. Thanks!
